A New Video Starring Twin Oaks

A fellow Twitterer (Tweeter?) posted this link a couple of days ago, and I’m just now getting around to passing it on to my blog crowd. Sim-based videos are popping up like dandelions in spring, but this one really stands out. It’s called “Slowdown – Indian Summer at Stark’s Twin Oaks”. Life got you stressed? This will take the edge off, I promise. Great work, Andreas!

Simply Stunning Scenery

Does the work week have you stressed already? Doctor Bill has just the prescription: four and a half minutes of pure scenic bliss. Enjoy. (For best effect, by the way, see it in HD)

Tiger Moth Fun

MirageIII2009, a prolific maker of instruction FS videos, has been at it again. For those of us who learn way better by watching than reading, this is the way to go. Check out his latest creation – a familiarization flight in Anthony Lynch’s DH Tiger Moth. Outstanding!

Twin Oaks Video Uploaded

John Venema, the big cheese behind Orbx Simulation Systems, has just released a video blog entry featuring Twin Oaks and the fabulous new Sibwings Bird Dog. Both are still in beta, but as you can see, both are getting dangerously close to finished. Thanks, John!

Don’t forget to visit the YouTube page and watch it in full HD!

Orbx Unveils Pacific Northwest Video

Cody Bergland of Jaggyroad Films just released his latest opus, a preview of Orbx’s upcoming FTX NA Blue: Pacific Northwest scenery. Not only do you get stunning views of this gorgeous part of the world (though I may be biased), but also a couple of peeks at the first two payware airports designed to fit within it – 1S2 Darrington Municipal, and 7S3 Stark’s Twin Oaks (okay, I’m definitely biased). Watch it below, sure, but this is one that’s worth downloading the high res version.

Fanboy Friday the Second

It’s been a quiet week in the FS world, release-wise. I guess we’re all still digesting the flurry of news from last week (and maybe enjoying our new toys, too). Still, quiet doesn’t mean silent. As I scoped out the various FS forums this week, a few fun things caught my eye. Here they are, in no particular order… Continue reading

Another Fine Example of FSX Cinema

Many thanks to Owen Hewitt for blogging about this short film, and bringing it to my attention. It’s a masterful bit of work using only FSX and minimal voice over, and yet managing to be funny, playful, and downright delirious with the unbridled joy of flight. Enjoy!
